Iran is covered in blood. Every moment is life or death. Every day, we face the unknown. We wake up not knowing if the blood of our loved ones will be shed in the street. In the not-so-distant future, our children and grandchildren will ask us where we were during the feminist revolution of 2022. What answer will we give them? What lesson will we leave in the history books for future generations? The time has come for us, for this diaspora, for all who believe in intersectional justice to face this great fear once and for all. Our kin have risen up in Iran, and in doing so, they have lost their lives.
We can no longer be indifferent. We can no longer forgive and forget. I say this to you, my kin! You are not in Iran today. We are the souls of those who were killed before, and after 1980, the summer of 88, the serial murders, December 2017, the 2017 Mahabad bombings, November 2019, Flight 752, the LGBTQIA+ and Kurdish communities, and thousands of other innocent lives lost over the past 43 years. We recall them, those who fought for women, life, and freedom. We will not let them disappear from the eyes of the world. We, the displaced people of Iran, crushed and broken but strong with clenched fists, will block their way to their next villainy. Come to Berlin! Today is the day for unity.
We will fight against systematic discrimination and will stand with all marginalized groups. Iran is calling for you. This is not just a national fight; it is transnational solidarity with all of those who have led the feminist resistance over the last decades. We hope to see you on Saturday, October 22, at 3:00 p.m., Berlin, Großer Stern, 10557. Join us to take a step forward into the dark night. Herewith, Berlin invites you to demonstrate and stand together. The Flight 752 Association, families of those who lost their lives, and the Women, Life, Freedom Collective will be honored to stand with you.
